From my understanding, so many of the buildings were uninhabitable, and/or illegally inhabited with people addicted to drugs. The good news is that Los Angeles has a number of organizations for people with addictions--LA Mission for one (I have a friend who recently completed the program). There is still "affordable" housing elsewhere in and around LA.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18070779113552428820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7004228980417502403.post-50011148366468290872008-12-16T07:29:00.000-08:002008-12-16T07:29:00.000-08:00I love watching neighborhoods revitalize, not only...I love watching neighborhoods revitalize, not only to see the old buildings restored and a new fun place created, but also because it's fun to gawk at the stupid yuppies. It's especially fun to see their reactions when gun shots ring out, or a crazy drunk homeless dude rolls toward them in a wheelchair and exposes himself. haha

Downtown LA has always been underappreciated, I think. Seriously, this sounds like a fantastic project. I haven't been downtown since the new complex went up across the street from Staples. I bet it's totally different, and it's only been 2 years.San Diego Farmgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10561103211171226430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7004228980417502403.post-68155620017677450962008-12-16T06:06:00.000-08:002008-12-16T06:06:00.000-08:00That's what they did with the Gaslamp District in ...That's what they did with the Gaslamp District in San Diego. I remember when they were planning it and everyone was like "are you kidding?"!
