Crystal Cathedral

Garden Grove, Calif.-- This iconic church is made with over 10,000 squares of glass put together with a silicone-based adhesive. Since California is prone to large earthquakes, the Crystal Cathedral apparently can withstand an earthquake of 8.0. I would still hate to be inside during one of our regular temblors.

Desert Church

Barstow, CA -- A simple, cinder block building suffices for a house of worship in this weather-beaten, high-desert town. For some, the emphases is placed on God and each other rather than on architectural aesthetics.

Old North Chuch

Sierra Madre, CA -- Built in 1890, the Old North Church still stands proud on a hill with the San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop. I used to attend a large singles Bible study in the 90s (not to be confused with the 1890s...). Although the interior has been modified and is devoid of pews, an organ and elderly church ladies with too much makeup and perfume, it still serves a noble purpose. I drive by the antique house of worship at least three days a week and still marvel at it's charm.

Old Church

This photo has the look of pride--in a good way.
