Memoirs of a Geisha

San Marino -- A few years back, I shot a series of photos with a friend at the Huntington Library, Japanese Gardens. She was made up and dressed as a geisha. Although the original prints went out as color, I recently experimented with Nik Software using the Analog Efex Pro2. This is the result.

The Huntington Library is a popular film location as in the 2005 motion picture, Memoirs of a Geisha.

Ian at the Huntington

San Marino, CA -- Ian Whitcomb & His Bungalow Boys entertained a group of hundreds at the Huntington Library and Gardens Saturday night. Picnickers and music enthusiasts gathered for the third and final summer concert in front of one of the massive art galleries of the railroad mogul, Henry E. Huntington.

Ian Whitcomb is best known for his many hit songs like "Henry the Eighth" as well as "You Turn me On,"which reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1965.

Ian is as whimsical and entertaining as he was during the British Invasion.

View From Inside a Mansion

San Marino -- A woman looks out the giant window of the former residence of Henry E. Huntington (1850 - 1927), a railroad magnet and art collector. The mansion became the Huntington Art Gallery one year after his death, and the first public art gallery in Southern California.

San Marino is directly south of Pasadena, CA--10 miles east of Los Angeles.

Red Hat Ladies

I've seem them before..., but have never asked. There were dozens of red hat-wearing ladies walking the grounds of the Huntington Gardens in San Marino. They are members of the Red Hat Society.

I caught up to the crowd of enthusiastic women at the Cafe'. I pulled out my camera and asked if I could sneak in a shot or two. They all fixed their hats, made a few adjustments and smiled between laughs.
