Early Winter Hits L.A.

The foothills of Los Angeles had a nice sprinkling of snow this morning. Temperatures were below normal, yet still way above what most states and countries consider "cold."

Winter Dive

Laguna Beach, CA -- Dive buddy Bill and I prepare for a dive to Mermaid's Grotto. Twice I think I've seen those pesky sirens taunting me at 60-ft below the surface in the magical forest of kelp. People usually ask what I see when I come up after an hour's tour under the sea. I tell them exactly what they want to hear: "I see mermaids, man-eating sharks and Sponge Bob on occasion." We all get a chuckle.

The Last Leaf of Autumn

For a moment, blue sky broke through the clouds casting sparkling sunshine on the new fallen snow. This is a cold start of winter for us as snow levels are supposed to drop as low as 1,500 feet.
