Angeles National Forest (Los Angeles) -- This weekend was supposed to be one of the hottest on record. LA valleys were well over 100F degrees, but high in the mountains above LA, we enjoyed much cooler temps.
About the photo: After completing a long section of our backpack trip (22 miles total) with the Boy Scouts, we all enjoyed telling stories around the campfire. I thought I would snap one shot just for the heck of it. I didn't notice what was hidden in the image until now. I did not manipulate this photo in any way.
Perfect for the weather we are having...

Happy Valentines Day

Los Angeles -- High on a trail above Windy Gap, my beautiful wife discovers and presents to me a heart-shaped rock. Happy Valentines Day!

Been A Long Time
Mountains Above LA -- Yes, I've taken a long-needed break from DFLA. My wife, Amber and I, have been trekking the local hills as well as the trails of the High Sierra with our trusty dog, Andy. The photo above is of us after a 25 mile weekend in the San Gabriel Mountains, a one-hour drive from our back door in Pasadena.Life is busy but good. I hope to get back to my regular posts soon. Stay tuned.
