Drifting Along With the Tumbling Tumbleweeds

Down the way from the Desert Lodge Market is an open stretch of highway begging to be driven on. These are the highways dreams, songs and movies are made of, and I'm glad to part of them.

You are a lucky man JT. Thanks for the photo and words. I've never seen a "Drifting Sand" road sign. Just not something we see here in the Tennessee mountains!

Our family wants to someday visit Disneyland....being such big fans of anything Disney. I told my husband wouldn't it be cool to drive out West for the trip instead of flying! See...that way I also get out of a long flight (not my favorite thing). Sorry...I know you're a pilot...

I would love to see the Midwest and West ...never having traveled west of the Mississippi River. In the meantime, I get my fix from reading your blog!

Thanks so much!

I remember drifting sands and blowing tumbleweeds in the deserts along the route from Tucson, Arizona to Palm Springs, California.

I still have the old blogs but I also have new ones Abe Lincoln Blogs and also look at Abraham Lincoln's Blog

Thank you all for your responses. I can tell the desert theme is popular. We are blessed with having two desert ecosystems; the high (Mojave,)and the low (Colorado) deserts, both within a 90-minute drive from LA. I will post more photos as I take them.

I too am a huge fan of our deserts, especially Death Valley! Maybe I'll take a road trip soon...

About five years ago or so I had to get away for sanity's sake and headed off on a solo road trip for week. First stop was Palmdale, which I hadn't visited in about 30 years.

Loved every minute of the trip, which ended up in Cedar City, Utah, before I turned around.

I regret that I took no photos along the way. Love yours, though!

Love the desert, clean air and wide open spaces. Such a necessary alternative to the crowded cities.
