Disney Concert Hall Shoes

Los Angeles -- Two boys from Japan were photographing each other in front of the Disney Concert all. I noticed the shoes, had to ask for the photo, got permission and shot away. A match made in LA...

Happy New Year!

Fünf Männer

Los Angeles -- Disney Concert Hall is a giant magnet for tourist and photographers. I noticed the five men above taking photos and overheard their German accent. As an American and LA-born native, I've always thought of myself as an ambassador of sorts. Welcoming people to LA is easy to do, and giving people a small memento of their trip is always fun.

Welcome to Los Angeles!

Marketplace in LA

Los Angeles -- Today, I spend a few hours wondering the streets of Los Angeles on my 3rd annual, After Christmas Photo Safari.

The streets were alive with interesting people to talk to as well as to shoot. Today, I shot while recording audio for the purpose of creating photo video shows. I use ambient sounds as well as interviewing people. This time, however, I was the one interviewed.

Stephen Haffman, Associate Producer/Director of Marketplace, approached me and asked if I would be willing to tell him (radio audience) what I had in my wallet. I told him, explaining each facet of my black, leather wallet. He also asked what one item I could not live with and without, as well as a few other questions.

After the interview, we exchanged cards and went about our business. You see, you never know who you might run into in the City of Angels.

Disney Concert Hall

Los Angeles, CA -- Drawn by massive, reflective sheets of curved stainless steel walls, Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA is a magnet for photographers and on-lookers. Standing beside the metal building tends to inspire the photographer in everyone.

Walking in LA

It is what it is

California Plaza

A man walks through a courtyard at the California Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles. Behind him are the tops of buildings, giving away its location. One of the landmarks is the Disney Concert Hall.

Posing Against Steel

Downtown Los Angeles -- Despite the clouds and threat of rain, the two boys on the left spent more than 15 minutes posing for pictures against the reflective wall of the Disney Concert Hall (see my banner, top right photo). You have seen--and will see--more from my hour here. Look for the wall.

A photographer could spend hours at this fertile location. It’s twisted, steely walls and waves of light capture the attention of artists and casual observers alike. During hot sunny days, sunbeams reflect off the sides blinding motorists and reportedly causing neighboring buildings to experience higher energy bills. Oh well.

Man in Black Coat

Creative is not what I think of when standing in the cold wind, waiting across the street for people to pass by a colossal steel wall; it’s more patients than anything else. The Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles is one of those places where anyone with a camera can take great photos. Photography 201: It’s all about the background.
