Maybe a little luck, maybe some timing. But I'm beginning to learn that you also have to see what's there as a photo before you shoot it, and that's artistic skill.
The photo was lucky but I did set up for the shot before. I found the background first, then waited for about five minutes, taking multiple shots of people walking past the LA Times building. I took about four frames of this girl.

Well done, and worth it. Even if your good shot came quickly, you still had to do the set-up, right?
