This shot is exemplary of what I keep telling people: that LA and San Francisco are the exception in California, not the rule. Once you get out of the city, California is a Middle American state--with the exception of those odd little hiding places in the desert where California is something else entirely.
Petrea, You nailed it on the head! At least once a week, I drive from the glitz of Beverly Hills to "meat and potatoes" Chino, all within an hours drive. That's one of the things I love about "LA" and why I love to post on this blog.
