Mariachi at Olvera Street

Los Angeles, CA -- Mexican musicians perform mariachi for restaurant patrons at Olvera Street. Although all the instruments are acoustic, the melodic sound filled the city block with a wave of joyous music.

The hint of color in the flowers is cool! Nice image and easy to imagine the music.

I just have to say again that your people photos are amazing. I would really get a collection together and publish it. Both this one & yesterdays are just superb.

I heard a segment on the Mariachi on NPR - how the economy is hurting their business too and the old way of getting work (being available at a specific place in East LA) is not so great anymore, so they are starting to get work thru web-sites. Also, that there are really good groups and just ones that learn a few songs & are not really authentic.
My dad used to love to go to La Fonda by MacArthur park.

Wow, this brings back some memories...I remember Olvera Street from back in the late 40s (I was just a kid, naturally!)...
